Barcelona Doctor Hopeful About Gaby Milito Comeback

Gabriel Milito is on course to play before the end of the current year as he enters the last stage of his long road back from a serious knee injury, according to Barcelona's club doctor.

The Argentinian defender suffered ligament damage during the Blaugrana's Champions League semi-final with Manchester United at Old Trafford in April 2008 and has been out ever since.

Having spent a long spell in his homeland recuperating, Milito is now back in Barcelona and underwent a series of tests this week that Doctor Ramon Cugat, the medic that performed the surgery, said were very encouraging.

"I hope that he can start playing again before the end of the year," Doctor Cugat told Catalunya Radio.

"The player is currently working on a bicycle, doing muscle building exercises and in some respects is ahead of his team-mates.

"Now the only thing he wants is for the slight pain to go when he runs. Over the last week that has improved and pain has lessened.

"I hope that soon that will disappear completely."
